Mamrie Hart is the hilarious Youtube star you've been looking for
Welcome to The Provoc’s YouTuber of the Month, where I highlight some of the web’s best personalities. This month’s pick: Mamrie Hart; YouTube Channel: You Deserve A Drink.
32-year-old Mamrie Hart is a comedian, actress, Internet personality and author. With over 1 million subscribers, Mamrie’s Internet fame started in 2011 with the debut of her show, You Deserve a Drink, in which Mamrie mixes a cocktail each week for a celebrity whom she believes deserves it. Aimed at audiences over 21, Hart’s videos combine her past experience as a bartender with her passion for performing. Filled with pop culture references and witty humor, Hart’s instructional videos become a drinking game when she encourages her viewers to make the cocktail, re-watch the video and take a sip every time she makes a pun.
It is important to note that Mamrie Hart does not encourage under-age drinking or unhealthy drinking habits, and her videos are still entertaining even if you do not partake in the drinking.
Mamrie, along with fellow YouTube star Grace Helbig, created a travel series called #HeyUSA, which first aired in October 2014 and is now available on TheScene.com. Season two aired in April 2015 and featured five co-hosts, including Tyler Oakley and Jenna Marbles.
Aside from YouTube, Mamrie co-wrote, produced and starred in her first feature film, Camp Takota, alongside best friends Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart (no relation). Camp Takota was released via digital download in February 2014 and is now available for streaming on Netflix.
The three friends, often referred to as the Holy Trinity, also started a variety show in 2012 called #NoFilter. These live performances have taken place all across the world, most recently in Australia. A combination of comedy sketches, improvisation and song, the #NoFilter show is as unique as the girls themselves, full of ridiculous costumes and eye-rolling puns.
Like many YouTubers, Mamrie Hart wrote her first book, You Deserve a Drink: Boozy Misadventures and Tales of Debauchery, a combined memoir and cookbook. With a cocktail recipe in each chapter, Hart shares numerous anecdotes through jokes and self-deprecating humor. Hart’s first book was released on May 26, 2015.
So if you’re interested in puns, quick wit and hilarious insight, take a study break to watch Mamrie Hart on YouTube. Her videos often feature her dog, Beanz, as well as collaborations with dozens of other YouTube S
sensations. You won’t be disappointed.
