Fiddler on the Roof is coming to the Hanover Theatre this weekend and AC’s theatre program is ready to entertain the audience. Set in 1905 Tsarist Russia, it focuses on Tevye the dairyman and his village of Anatevka as they survive the harsh conditions of Russian rule. Paired with catchy songs and dance, love and tragedy are never in short supply.

Directed by alumnus Richard Monroe and starring senior Jonathan Souza as Tevye, the show promises to be one of the finest the College has ever put forth.

“I think people can most look forward to students really trying to embrace the characters and the time period they’re in and giving it their all to perform a wonderful and deeply emotional show,” said Souza.

Other members of the Assumption community are involved as well. Senior Brittany Stewart plays Tevye’s wife Golde and senior Kelly Bohane plays Yente. Underclassmen are also stealing the show as first-year Shant Eghian plays the determined tailor named Motel Kamzoil. First-year Liv Foley plays Tevye’s headstrong eldest daughter, Tzeitel. But it’s not only the students at Assumption who are working to put on a fantastic show. Prof.. Barry Knowlton plays Anatevka’s beloved rabbi and the Registar’s John Wild plays the wealthy butcher Lazar Wolf.

“What I love most about AC Theater is the fact that it gives me break from my academics, once in a while you need something that takes your mind off of everything stressful and makes you forget about it,” said Souza.

So come, relax and de-stress in Anatevka on April 24 -26 at the Hanover Theater. Tickets can be purchased at the Bookstore with a student ID or purchased on the Hanover Theatre website, www.thehanovertheatre.org
